Get to Know
I have been a crafter since I was old enough to color. I credit my mom for getting me started in all things crafting! In my 30+ years, I have sewn my own clothes, cross stitched numerous pictures, woven baskets, rubber stamped, embossed paper with brass stencils, crocheted, decorated cakes and most recently, I've become addicted to beads--especially seed beads.
I was 9 years old when I sold my first item. It was a small box made out of plastic canvas. Within a few days, I had orders for several more. Before I knew it, I had my first "employee" (my mom). Over a month's time, we made more than 30 of those plastic canvas boxes!
Right after college, I started making cards using rubber stamps and brass stencils. I made the cards mainly for my own use, but I did quite a few large quantity custom orders for friends. For several years, I donated some cards to Keiki Cards, a non-profit organization that mailed cards each week to children with life threatening illnesses.
Now here I am, a stay-at-home-mom to a 5 year old son and a wife of 13 years to a husband that supports and encourages me in all I do. My son is now in Kindergarten three days a week. I always looked forward to the day he would be in school so I would have more time to exercise and bead more, but to date, that's not what happens! The laundry is always done and the house is clean, but after that, I end up sleeping the day away until I need to get my son from school. It seems my narcolepsy and the excessive daytime sleepiness it causes wins out over and beading!
