Thanks for stopping by Back Alley Designs INK!
I was born and raised in California, not far from Hollywood, where you will find a vast array of unique personalities. As I got older and began buying jewelry, I found that I was drawn to vintage Victorian style designs and even bought antique pieces to wear.
I am a wife, proud mother of a wonderful son and grandmother to three beautiful and uniquely individual granddaughters. I owned and operated a retail craft and antique store for 5 years, where I focused on antiques and vintage style reproduction items. I also created my own wood crafts and shabby chic furniture.
After working in finance and construction accounting for over 20 years, I have spent the last 2 years pursuing my passion of designing and creating. Although, I first began creating clothing in the style of tattoo art, I quickly progressed into creating jewelry, where I found my niche. While my first and foremost love is Steampunk, I also create Gothic and Victorian inspired designs, as well as tattoo and pin-up girl art jewelry.
When I first began creating jewelry, I was looking for vintage design filigree and had my first glimpse of a steampunk design. From there I was hooked and I began creating Steampunk designs after acquiring my first estate lot of vintage watch parts that I fell in love with. The craftsmanship and beauty of a vintage watch movement that could tell such wonderful stories, inspires me to re-create designs that allows these pieces to continue their journey.
Another inspiration for my work is all the women I know and love. Each of them has their own unique style and personality, like my designs. Watching each of my granddaughters evolve into their own individual personalities inspires me to continually create new and unique pieces.
Whether they whisper uniqueness or scream it, I design my pieces to be as individual as the person who will wear it.
