Skills and Techniques

I have been creating forever. Winning an art contest as a child encouraged me (and my parents) to sign me up for art lessons. I went to college to the University of Michigan School of Art and Design, got a degree in Graphic Design (because that is where my parents pushed me - assuming it was the best of the art fields to make a career from). Artist Statement:

I've always had a desire to create. I love color and the mood or feelings that it evokes. I've tried a number of mediums throughout my life fulfilling my desire to explore color and create. Glass is the medium that intrigued me the most. The more I work with it, the more I am intrigued by its qualities; the way one color affects or reacts with another, the ability to change its form and the erethral qualities of its transparency. I am inspired by the endless possibilities of this medium. I love when light hits glass and colors change, possibly changing the original appearance of the piece as well. I especially love that my art is one that can be worn. It can enhance an outfit, make a statement and give one a feeling of confidence, originality and unique beauty.

About the beads: All of the beads are lovingly handmade by me in my studio on an oxygen concentrator and natural gas run torch. They are made with Moretti, Creation is Messy, Lauscha or Kugler, Uroborous, Reichenbach glass. They are usually made on 1/16" mandrels unless otherwise specified. My beads are placed immediately from the flame into a preheated kiln. They are carefully annealed overnight in the temperature controlled kiln to ensure beads of lasting strength and durability! The holes are then cleaned with a dremel tool to rid them of the bead release. Then they are cleaned in soapy water, dried, photographed and carefully stored until they are SOLD, wrapped and shipped to you!

Thank you for your time and patronage!
