Get to Know
I'm Wendy McManus, metal clay and polymer clay artist, and the driving force behind Big World Studio. When I discovered polymer clay in 2005, I instantly fell in love with this versatile material and I joyfully dove into experimenting with different techniques and perfecting my skills.
In 2009 I expanded my palette to include metal clay--both silver clay and copper clay--and my heart has just soared with the possibilities opened up to me with these new materials.
I've always been a crafter, but these are the mediums that truly brings out the artist in me. I get excited every time I get my hands in the clay. In 2008 I began selling my creations. Word spread, events were booked and Big World Studio was born.
As I searched online for examples of beautiful metal clay artwork, I realized that the community could benefit from a site that would showcase metal clay art and artists. So, I created www.MetalClayMagic.com, where I blog two to three times per week, always featuring a different artist in each post. In addition to creating art jewelry and blogging, I'm the Director of Marketing for the National Mango Board, where I work to promote mango consumption throughout the U.S. Learn more at www.mango.org.
