Quick Blurb

Luxe here! One-handed jewelry maker, crazed Tweeter of affordable handmade + vintage finds, and lover of all things sparkly!

Interests

Interested in EVERYTHING! My greatest love is animals-- dogs in particular. Every month a hearty portion of my proceeds goes to Best Friends Animal Society. I also donate to ASPCA and Defenders Of Wildlife to preserve the lobos of the Southwest.

Skills and Techniques

Given my one-handed situation, I am mostly stringing beads, working with chain, and simple wire wraps. My main focus is offering sparkly jewels made with quality elements at an affordable price.

Get to Know

I started making jewelry when I was a wee girly. Over the years, I have sold my jewelry at nightclubs, in boutiques, music festivals, and online. My folks "made" me take art classes from the time I was 2, so I have done just about everything you can think of in terms of art, but jewelry was always my favorite thing-- that and beading everything from jewelry boxes to clocks, shrines, clothing... My jewelry making always ran concurrently with my "real" job, and it was not until about 2006 that I realized I was permanently disabled and had to quit my beloved "real" job. I was diagnosed with RSD, and have been unable to use my left arm/hand for a while now. (I have added a picture to my Bio Gallery -- if you would like to see what RSD LOOKS like-- not sure pic 5 is showing?)Since I was predominantly LEFT handed before developing RSD, I had to come up with a way to get my now MUCH-needed RIGHT hand to be more coordinated and useful. So I dusted off the ol' pliers + beads and got to work. In addition to making jewels, I also do a fun gift guide on Twitter-- focusing on promoting handmade + vintage goodness to the world. There are a lot of people who do not know about the handmade + vintage sites, and I SO enjoy sharing my finds on Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking sites. Currently: I am working on getting my Artfire shop up-to-speed! Re-doing the categories and so forth... Open to ANY and ALL suggestions from my fellow sellers and those who know the ropes!

This would be Fudgy! He keeps me company 24-7, and presides over the jewel-making and other activities!

This is The Baerleht -- though she is no longer with us now, she lived to be 16 years old! She was deformed and had all sorts of issues thanks to PUPPY MILL BREEDERS in Jacksonville Florida... like ME, she was a real fighter. Doctors predicted that she would not live to be 1 year old!

Had to share this one -- taken 2 days after I rescued him, this is Fudgy at 5 weeks old! His mom was a feral hybrid and the shelter put her down, leaving 5 puppies motherless. I was too late to save the mommy dog, but I did get THIS guy to safety!

In between making jewels... Fudgy learns tricks. He is part Heeler, so he loves to balance things on his head!
