Hello and welcome to Carmel Beads. My name is Maddy and I live with my husband and two sons in Llanilar, a village on the River Ystwyth in West Wales. Having been an administrator for many years, I stopped working to bring up my boys and discovered my creative side in beadwork.
Living in such beautiful surroundings it is impossible not to be influenced by nature, but my main inspirations are colour and texture. Seed beads, some as small as 1mm, offer a unique way of combining these to produce interesting and wearable jewellery.
Much of my work is sewn by hand using needle, thread and thousands of Japanese seed beads, together with Swarovski crystals, Czech firepolished glass and semi-precious gemstones. I do this using techniques such as peyote stitch, Ndebele/herringbone stitch and St Petersburg chain. The variety in my range is achieved by the careful marriage of materials, technique and colour palette.
I hope you will enjoy browsing in my shop. Do contact me if you would like something in a different size or in different colours. It would be my pleasure to create something just for you.
