Get to Know
My name is Cat, and I am owner and sole artisan of Chatty Cat's. I have been creating jewelry for many years, starting out as a silversmith. I have switched gears and am no longer silversmithing, but I do enjoy using the many mediums that filter into my work. I am excited to bring you different, and sometimes one of a kind creations, as I feel it's important that the art you wear went home with you because it screamed your name. You know the one I mean..it jumps out and grabs you. When starting the creation process, I will have an idea in my head of how I want a piece to look. Really, though, it is through this journey from beginning to end that the piece takes on a life of its own. Sometimes I'm even surprised at how a piece turns out! I name all of my pieces because to me, they are alive with their own sense of being and individuality. For many years, I struggled with finding "the right piece" that jumped out and "grabbed me". For those of you who appreciate a piece that is so different that you just feel better when wearing it, this is the place for you. I strive to create unusual, and sometimes eclectic pieces, and am drawn to the organic feel of earthy elements. By never duplicating a signature piece, each of you has the opportunity to wear something truly unique. Rest assured, you are getting a quality piece with its own personality and uniqueness. Who knows, maybe it will be you that one of my creations will be screaming at!
This is Oliver, who came to us as a stray...thinks he's a dog. He's smug and solid. A real bruiser. Sometimes a bully, but he's sweet, too. Lays with his arm over my son's arm when he's on the laptop. Strangest relationship between cat and boy I've ever seen. Follows him like my son is "The Cat Whisperer"....
And this is Yoda, aptly named because when he was a kitten, his ears would go in separate directions, just like the Star Wars character! You can also see him on my "Shipping Options" with his "hair clips"...he's very tolerant of us, to say the least!
This is little Henry, whom I got for my mom in '97 after my dad died, and he came to live with us when my mom died... he's a treasure.
Sid showed up on our doorstep one day in Colorado and has been with us ever since. He was neglected, and seemed to like it at our house, so we kept him! He's our galoot...loving, and I think he may be a little slow, but we love him!
Sadly, Sid went to sleep for the final time on June 1, 2011. We miss him madly, and will always be grateful for his patience with us. He was a gentle spirit and will always be a part of us.
