I can remember as a little girl I would take pliers and "fix" my Nana's jewelry. When she saw that I really had figured out how to open and close jumprings and put pieces back together that had broken, she started asking me to do it. I am often inspired by nature, but also, more recently since I moved to LA, urban landscapes and fashion and design. I am always on the look out for fresh ideas, color combinations and asymmetrical patterns. I love that beads and jewelry are such an ancient expression. Stones such as Lapis Lazuli were mined 6000 years ago! It seems, however, there is a never ending creative stream for how to combine stone and metal into beautiful, wearable art. I've had many incarnations in my life and tend not to get too attached to any one of them. I've led outdoor adventure trips and other youth programming, I've been in corporate technology sales, retail sales, non-profit fund raising, landscaping, farm worker, health education and weight loss programs and nutritional counseling. I play guitar and sing. I had not truly found a way to express myself in a 'visual art' until I 'rediscovered' jewelry about 5 years ago. I love the texture, substance and color of jewelry. I love that humans have been wearing jewelry since probably before we had language! It's primal, yet modern. It's universal, yet very personal and intimate. We say a lot about ourselves through the jewelry we choose to wear. I hope you find something you'd like to say about yourself in my collection.
