While making jewelry is a relatively new avenue of artistic expression for me my passion is singing and gardening. God is good and has blessed me to sing on the praise and worship team at my church in groups and in the choir. I am often called upon to sing at church events weddings fashion shows reunions and parties. Tell me what is more beautiful than flowers I grow African Violets of many varieties that bloom year round. When the weather permits I love to work in my yard planting and maintaining my containers and beds chocked full of all kinds of annuals and perennials. My interest in jewelry making came by chance when one of my favorite pieces of jewelry came apart. After thinking about it for a bit I decided that I would fix it myself. After searching the library and internet for "how to" information I purchased a beading kit which had the pliers and instructions I needed. While practicing to prepare for "the fixing" of my favorite piece of jewelry I discovered that I enjoyed making pretty things. Months have come and gone and I'm still at it. Now I've always enjoyed creating things. I learned to knit and crochet when I was nine years old making and selling hat and scarf sets at a local hair salon. I learned to sew at eleven and by the time I was in high school I was making most of my clothing and helping out at a men's clothing shop on Saturdays making minor alterations. As college then work and singing took up most of my time I got away from it. However that changed once I got married purchased a home and my son was born. I sewed and crocheted a lot making afghans quilts sheets pillow cases and bassinet covers for my son. I make items for the house as well like coordinating curtains - window and shower fabric bookcase covers chair covers and pillows when I can't find anything that I like at the store.
