Hi, I am Dorrie and I love Beadweaving. It is very calming and because I am always so wound up, this slows me down.

Interests

Beadwork of any kind, metal clay, polymer clay, ceramics, crocheting and cross stitch. I love to read all I can get my hands on, about jewlery making and designing. I am totally self taught and am proud of how far I have come.

Skills and Techniques

Peyote Stitch, Looming, beadweaving, square stitch, herringbone stitch, spiral herringbone. I can do so many different techniques and am always in a learning mode. I have a penpal mentor whom I have never met and she lives in Italy. She has taught me quite a bit in the designing area, which I need.

Get to Know

I am a self taught beader who discovered this wonderful world of beads, when an injury put me out of work. Instead of sitting around and going crazy, I took up beading as a way to pass the time. I became addicted and here I am. I never thought it would come this far, but after 5 years of doing this, I have quite the collection of finished items and have plenty to sell.

I have been able to sell at a few different juried events and have been invited back each time. I love being able to put my product out for everyone to see. It is an exciting adventure for me to meet and talk to different people.
I have been married to the same man for 32 years. He is retired Navy and we haved lived in many interesting towns. We have now settled down into my hometown. We have 2 beautiful daughters, one married, other single and career oriented. Our oldest has blessed us with 5 beautiful grandsons who I adore.
