I love to work with my hands and I love the beauty and quality of well crafted items.
Interests
Beside a variety of crafts? Well I guess gardening in the summer and genealogy in the winter is two other major interests. I also enjoy reading and cooking (all the year around).
Skills and Techniques
Learned to crochet when I was six playing with beads since ten started sewing in my early teens been knitting since late teens and sometime in my early twenties I fell in love with making jewelry in sterling silver. (Nope not telling you my age.)

Who am I ?? That's a question that might take a lifetime to understand. If you want to know more about me as an artisan though I will try to write regularly in my blog here at ArtFire.
As for my shop I choose the name Folkesdotter to honor my creative heritage. It means Folke's daughter and it used to be the traditional way of a female surname (no longer in use unless you intentionally choose to use it).
When doing genealogy research I have found many of the males involved creative work. All the female creativity seems to be kept within the home never worth mentioning.
Therefore I decided to name some of the products I make after those female ancestors who crocheted, knitted, weaved and sewed in order to keep the family clothed and their home looking the best even with small means.
I am proud to be an artisan keeping the crafting tradition alive and my intention is that Folkesdotter will be a great place to shop for a variety of handmade items.
I hope you will find something in my shop to enjoy as much as I have enjoyed making it for you.

Jag valde namnet Folkesdotter for att hedra alla dom hantverkare som funnits i tidigare generationer.
Men all den kvinnliga kreativiteten verkar aldrig varit vard att uppmarksammas. Darfor har jag valt att namnge en del av del produkter jag gor efter alla de kvinnor i min slakt som virkat, stickat, vavt och sytt for att se till att familjen hade klader och att hemmet sag sa bra ut som mojligt.
Jag ar stolt over att halla denna tradition levande genom mitt eget hantverkande och jag hoppas att du hittar nagot att tycka om lika mycket som jag tycker om att gora mina alster.
