Get to Know
I am an artist who's learned to finally follow the convictions of my heart in my painting. I also know, that I have been blessed by God with a gift that's given to me for a purpose. I'm not entirely sure what the purpose is, but I just know I have this driving need to paint and create my passions. Seems like that is how it is in life, we are moved from chapter to chapter. I'm not one of those people who's content living the same chapter over and over apparently. What is the art of Connie Owens? My studio name is Hosslass Art, because deep in my heart of hearts, my passion for the horse lies. I've been through enough trials to have that passion tested, and it always is there, sometimes quiet and subdued, sometimes burning and all consuming. Along with the horses, it's natural I suppose that I have a reverence and love for the wild and natural creatures and the land from which they live. There I find where God is really an artist too! I think my art, created from these passions, is carefully created for someone else to have and enjoy, like the natural world God created to enrich our life! My latest art discovery is creating jewelry from original miniature paintings on canvas pendants. I use the color and feel of certain stones & silver to complete the whole composition and tell a story, to keep it simple. Most of my designs are heavily influenced by southwest Native American themes, this jewelry which I am also a collector. Painting in miniature presents it's own unique challenges. Somehow I just got into "it" without much hesitation, seemed the natural next step for me in my artistic journey. I share my country home with my husband, two wonderful dogs, Bella and Winnie, and three beautiful cats. I also, of course, have my fantastic Arabian gelding, Sisco, and my nine other boarding barn horses I take care of everyday and draw inspiration from (not to mention make perspiration from too! LOL).
I really thank you for visiting with me and hope you enjoy my art! God Bless, Connie
