Hello and welcome to my studio. I'm Jimmy D. I've been exploring art most of my life and as you can see from my picture I'm no spring chicken.I've looked at Art,studied art, read about art, and created art in many forms. I do pencil, pen and ink, acrylic paintings, collage, assemblage, photography, computer art, fractal art (more about this in a moment), airbrush art, and so on.As you can guess I like Art. Its where imagination opens the doors to glimpses of future possibilitys. I hope to share some of my art works with you here in my studio on ArtFire. Since a large part of what I show here at my Art Fire Studio will be prints of my fractal art, I think a explanation of what fractals are is appropiate here. A fractal is a geometric shape that can be split into parts which are similar copys of the whole. I see fractals like looking through a microscope or telescope into a mathematical built dreamscape. I feel like an artistic mad scientist exploring fractal worlds. I zoom in and out, change colors, change formulas, experiment,search and play until I see something that says to me "Hey whats this" or "Look what I found". I then work on it until I have something I like. What I see is not necessarily what you will see in a fractal, I might see a owl or a dragon in one part of it, someone else will see an overall picture of something different or groups of things or just pretty colors. I use a program called Ultra Fractal to generate fractals. It does the math work for me in the form of formulas and has art type features such as layers that allows me to create, explore, manipulate fractals and save images of them in a high enough quality to produce prints of various sizes.
