Bio

I am a retired teacher who finally has the time to devote to melting glass and working with metals, especially mixed metals. I have worked with glass for over twenty-five years, in one temperature or another. I was drawn into the world of borosilicate glass after working soley with soft glass for about four years. With this glass, boro as it is called, opening the kiln in the morning is always a surprise! All of my glass has been annealed in a digitally controlled kiln, a very important thing to look for when buying glass jewelry.

All of my glass is created in my little studio that DH built for me in our backyard. (There's a picture of it on my website, http://www.kimvglass.com, if you want to see where I disappear to so often)

PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

I'm a member of the ISGB, the International Society of Glass Beadmakers. I'm also a member of the Boston Chapter of the ISGB.

I have written several articles for Glass Line Magazine. What a learning experience that first one was! It was my first ever published article. I was, still am, honored that the editor contacted me!! Several of my beads were used by Jim Kervin in the articlse he wrote for The Glass Bead, the ISGB's quarterly publication.

I'm proud to have been selected to be in Bead Review 3, A Year of Exceptional Art GlassBeads! I am truly honored!!

PLEASE REMEMBER

Glass beads/pendants are glass. Because they have been kiln annealed directly from the torch, they are fairly durable. Most of the time they will survive a slight tumble onto the floor from a reasonable height (no going to the third floor to test this out, ok? ). But they ARE glass, and will break if mishandled. Therefore, I advise AGAINST children wearing glass jewelry and only sell to adults.
