Get to Know
Mags Rags as an online business came into existence in 2001. I maintained 100% positive feedback throughout over 2,000 transactions at my original selling site.
But I've been fascinated by vintage clothing and accesssories since my college years, in the late 60s/early 70s. I started wearing vintage back then as a fashion statement and because my soul responded to the fabrics and designs and historical resonance of older garments. I got married in a vintage dress (my husband wore a vintage tuxedo), and I dressed my daughter in vintage kid's clothes - as a young adult, she now incorporates vintage into her wardrobe in a big way.
For me, vintage has always been like a stray puppy - it just follows me home, whether I have room or not, and whether it fits me or not! Prior to the birth of internet selling, I held rare trunk sales out of my home or back yard. Now, thanks to the interwebs, my finds are spread across the U.S. and internationally, from the UK to Malaysia.
I started out in the Chicago area, and settled in the Pacific Northwest about 25 years ago. My day job is in health care, and my family and I are deeply involved on local theater - acting, directing, and (of course!) costuming.
Part of a lot of vintage housedresses - a few have been listed and sold, I'm working on the rest a little at a time
My rack of vintage party dresses, 1930s through 1980s - again, some have been listed and sold, the rest I do as I can.
