My mom and I have been making lampwork beads about 10 years. It all started one day at a bead store where I buy beads.I met my now close friend Sylvie who asked me "Why aren't you making your own lampwork beads?". Before I new it I was taking lampwork classes at our local art center.Once you start you will never stop it is an addiction, and when I got the feaver I passed it to my mother. We even helped start the local bead society, The Southern Flames. It took a number of years for Southern Flames to take off but when it did it really did. One of the benifits of being a member is the group brings in teachers from all over the U.S. to teach there unique ideas. There are so many members now we have to use the lottery system to get into some of the classes. Mom and I have so many beads around we decided it was time to try and sell some of them. So some of the beads have been made into jewlery others have been listed as lampwork beads so folks can make there own jewlery. I want to add some of the lampwork to wearable fiber art but I am still working on that at the moment. Mom say's I have to many things in the fire. Well I guess we will just have to see how all this goes and hopefully it will be enough to keep feeding the addiction....
