Skills and Techniques
My preferred technique is stringing beads and pendants on wire, using primarily semiprecious stones, lampwork, fused glass, and Thai or Bali silver components. I also enjoy incorporating wire-wrapping into my designs, both for style and durability. I use fine silver wire, natural copper wire, and coated copper wire. Two things you should know about me: I have a bead habit, and a day job. I discovered jewelry design as a creative outlet and have been buying beads ever since. One hundred percent of the proceeds from a sale will most certainly go toward purchase of more beads. Every item in my shop was designed and hand-crafted by me, in my home. My designs incorporate wire, semiprecious stones, art glass, silver, copper, ceramic and polymer clay. I do not use real coral, real pearls, shell, ivory, bone or other materials harvested or derived from animals. My jewelry designs are mostly inspired by colors, shapes and patterns in nature and textiles. I grew up "out west" so there's usually a fair bit of southwestern influence in my designs. My education and career have kept me involved in ocean issues, so sea creatures and shades of blue are frequent themes. Somehow food is also a frequent influence, at least in the titles of many pieces.
