My name is Mischelle, however I've been known to most (including my husband) as "Mzz Thang" for over 34 years. Growing up in a family of artists, I knew that my life would also be based around the arts of some sorts. As a former professional musician in the San Francisco/East Bay Area, I gained my nickname "Mzz Thang" from my former band members -- as being the only female in the group. After many, many years with the band and having undergone several treatments for ovarian cancer, I retired from playing music and the "late night" crowds and became a stay-at-home mom for my 2 girls, but as the girls grew up and found their own niches, boredom for me soon took over. I began playing in a local darts league in which my parents ran and with lots of practice, I became a national and world-ranked darts player, travelling and representing the USA and California at tournaments. I retired from playing darts a few years ago after a severe shoulder injury and again found myself stuck at home. With also having Lupus and osteoarthritis, I looked online for magnetic jewelry as a therapeutic means and noticed how it all looked the same and rather boring, so I decided to try and make some myself that didn't necessarily LOOK like magnetic jewelry. After making and selling a few pieces to some of the elder bowlers at our local alley, I was hooked! I started experimenting with other styles and now...I own a brick and mortar jewelry store in the San Francisco Bay Area... And I love it! In addition to creating unique one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, I host several annual fund raising events to benefit the Lupus Foundation of America -- from bowling and darts tournaments to the proceeds from the sales of every 50th piece of jewelry that I create.
