Get to Know
I have been a jewelry artist for 5 years. I'm lucky to say that my jewelry has been selling for most of those 5 years. This is my first online shop. I am very excited about having my own store.
My one-woman studio is located on our horse ranch in Homedale, Idaho. I am surrounded by the Owyhee Mountains, fresh air, lots of animals and of course, my horses. WOW. Horses and jewelry making, does it get any better than this? I have my husband's loyal support, which is the most important ingredient in my art.
I have a BFA in Graphic Design, just missing the additional credits needed for a minor in Illustration. Lots of formal art training, which includes metal arts. Loved it all. I continue to educate myself with the occasional workshop, books, videos and other artists.
Designing and creating jewelry is such a perfect mix of all art disciplines. There is never a lack of ideas...yet!
Materials Used:
Metals-sheet and wire: Sterling silver, fine silver, copper, which I dearly love, bronze, nickel silver, brass, black iron wire and more. I guess you can tell I am very drawn to metal. I also use fine silver clay and the new bronze clay, both which fire to actual metal.
Beads: Semi-precious gem stones, Czech glass, glass, metal, shell, wood, Vintage finds, my handmade polymer clay beads and ceramic beads which I form and fire in my kiln.
Found Objects: Rubber tubing, vintage jewelry pieces, twigs, stones, glass and other as yet unfound objects.
I use professional 49 strand beading wire when I string a necklace. This is very strong and flexible.
I make maybe 95% of my clasps. They are soldered or wire wrapped for strength and durability.
Jump-rings are soldered or wire-wrapped when used for clasps.
I welcome custom work and look forward to creating a special design just for you!
