HI! My name is Deb Tuchsen and welcome to my Etsy store. I\'m a 45 year old single mother of 3 wonderful kids. My home is in San Antonio, which inspires a lot of the Southwestern themes in my art.
What I do?
My passions are drawing, photography, and polymer clay. I especially love portraiture - taking people\'s family photos and making wonderful drawings or paintings for a family heirloom.
My polymer clay work mainly involves customizing millefiori canes for beads for school & college jewelry and custom face canes. The school and college jewelry has my own design of a school or college logo in the school colors and many of the designs are used for fundraising purposes. The face canes are intricate, detailed canes with varying skin tone and hair color - some even with mustaches! They are wonderful to make a custom gift for mothers, grandmothers, or teachers or even to add your \'child\' on to your school jewelry. If you\'re interested in any custom jewelry, please use the request custom item link at the right.

Most of my work is using a technique called millefiori. Polymer clay is carefully layered in 'canes' to create detailed images than can then be used for endless creations. These are a few of my face canes.
I enjoy doing custom design for schools and businesses. I can match colors and recreate a variety of images that can be used for handcrafted artisan gifts.
Polymer clay has endless possibilities. The cane used to create this design was made from leftover canes from other events and projects, so it has a wonderful amount of detail along with memories of mine from past birthday parties, classes and times. As an artist, it gives me joy to share my life with others in that way.
I'm originally from Minnesota, but have lived in the southwest for the past 20 years. I love turquoise and native american influence and tend to gravitate a lot of my work towards that passion.
