Hi! It's so nice to meet you:) My name is Jennifer Buckle...I am Sapphire Skies Designs.

I'm a self taught, self represented jewelry artist. I started creating beaded jewelry in 1993 to fill my jewelry desires. I enjoyed it so much, that I decided I'd sell my pieces at a farmer's market for some extra money. As much as I loved it, I just didn't have enough time to be married, work a full time job and sell at markets. I sold my first jewelry business in 1996 to a neighbor. In 1997, my first husband and I got divorced. I found myself scrambling to make ends meet and wanting but not being able to afford again.

In 1998, with the help of a boyfriend (now my husband of 12 years) I started selling jewelry from Mexico on eBay. In between shipments, I filled in with my own designs. They started to take off so I dropped the jewelry from Mexico and ran with my own designs. I taught myself how to wire wrap in 2002. In 2005, my business really started to take off. I was making enough money that I could sustain my expenses on my income from jewelry creation. I quit my full time job as a staff accountant for Shipwreck Beads and decided I'd chase my dream. I had 5 1/2 wonderful years of self employment but the economy has taken it's toll so I'm back to work part time.

I love gemstones and I love jewelry. I think that everyone should be able to have at least a few key pieces that speak to them. Something they cherish and love. Something that reminds them of a very special memory, a special person, a symbol that means something to them, or a reminder of who they are now and how they got there. We all have mementos to remind us of cherished times, places and people...I just choose for my mementos to be something that I can wear.

Wire wraps have been my prime focus until 2009, when I picked up a torch for the first time! I've taken classes in metal fusion, soldering & antiquing, and various other metal smithing classes. The torch is my playtime, my love, where all my creative ideas come from, wire wrapping is still where my income is.

This is called a spoonful. They are sterling salt spoons that I have created into pendants. I torch soldered a bail onto the spoon so it could be worn as a pendant. Then I mixed some clear cast jewelry resin to set the benitoite crystal specimen in.

This is an original design sterling silver heart scroll cuff bracelet. Periodically, I make these to sell. I'll happily do them as a custom order.

Another of my original design cuff bracelets. This one is made from fine silver. I don't have a pattern for these so they are like snow flakes-no two are ever alike.
