Skills and Techniques
I am interested in all types of art work and although I do have favorite media, I have worked with a wide variety painting and sculpting media. I love sculpting in various types of clays, the interesting and unpredictable affects of glazes when ceramic pieces are fired. I love utilizing glass because of the way the light changes after passing through various colors and types of glass. I am the most passionate about creating various types of animation. I have worked in film in both 3 dimensional claymation and 2 dimensional techniques. I hope to explore the many uses of computers in creating animation more fully in the near future.

Get to Know
Although I am now in a much older body, my mind and spirit is that of scooter girl. My icon is a photo shop edited picture of me when I was a one year old riding a little scooter. When I found it among other photographs I was looking through I knew it was the icon I wanted to use for my Artfire studio. I had been trying to think of something that was original and spoke about who I was and when I saw that picture I knew the little girl in that picture represents my basic spirit. I have always been a determined individual who leans forward and keeps on going no matter what the circumstances are so,Scooter Girl Studio was it!
In 2009 I finally finished a project that I had been working on for about 20 years. Various circumstances had prevented its completion, but in 2009 I committed to completing my book for children, The Legend of the Carousel. I did thirty illustrations to go along with the story. To learn about the process of creating the paintings that illustrate the story please read my blog at: www.legenddesigns.wordpress.com. Although my book is available on Amazon I thought it would be nice if I could sell copies online that are signed by me, the author and illustrator. This is one of the reasons I wanted to start an online store.
I often work with clay, clay slip, molds, under glazes, and glazes. I have a small kiln which I use to fire my projects. I have purchased a few molds on ebay and started pouring them. When I found the unicorn and castle box molds I thought how nicely they went along with The Legend of the Carousel and started pouring the molds and painting the pieces. The pieces along with "The Legend of the Carousel"book are the first work I have listed in Scooter Girl Studio.
Future plans include a small carousel horse charm out of silver metal clay and other jewelry pieces. Please come back and visit often as I enjoy working in a variety of media and will be stocking my studio with a variety of items.
