Get to Know

We're a husband (Martyn) and wife (Patty) team and what began as a creative outlet for Patty - glass fusing - quickly caught Martyn's attention and in a big way. Hundreds of kiln-firings later we were in business as Sea Day Designs.

We've both had a connection to art throughout our lives. Patty's interest began when she opened her first box of crayons. In the many years since it has led her through a variety of crafts/hobbies including paper making candle making scrapbooking and mosaics.

Martyn's background is in theatre arts. He's been singing and acting both as an amateur and a professional since the age of 5. His attraction and subsequent addiction to glass fusing came as a complete surprise to both of us.

We live just outside of Dallas Texas and work from a home studio which allows us to feed our glass fusing passion at any time of the day or night. Truth be told if we're at home, chances are we're fusing glass.

Our company name, "Sea Day Designs" is a wink and a nod to our other passion - cruising. We've been fortunate to have taken many cruises over the years and wholeheartedly agree that our favorite days of those cruises have always been the ones spent at sea surrounded by nothing but ocean waves.

We want to thank you for considering the handmade work of small home-based artisans when purchasing for yourself or others and we hope you enjoy browsing through our studio here at ArtFire.

This is where we design and create our fused glass art. (It's almost never this neat!) Foreground: (L) glass grinder Dremel/setup for engraving (R) setup and tools for cutting larger sheets of glass kiln-ready projects (stacked on cardboard sheets).

Our "Work Table for Two". (See note above about tidiness.) Glass in all sizes and shapes - there's no such thing as a piece of glass too small. Every piece can be fused into something wonderful. Less often used glass and supplies are stored in plastic rolling bins for mobility... ("less often" except for the Bandaids in the top drawer on the left, lol.)
