Get to Know

My earliest memory of designing jewelry was when I was just a child. My grandmother would give her broken and old jewelry and I would new jewelry out of it. It was a wonderful craft and kept me busy (and out of trouble) for hours. As a teen I begun to make jewelry to match my outfits using only the most odd materials I could find. As I turned into a young adult I put my love of jewelry making aside to do other creative things like painting, card making and scrap booking. One day I ran into an old friend who was so happy about a bracelet she had made and couldn't wait to show it to me. I was very excited for her but, in the back of my mind, I thought of ways that I could make that bracelet even better. I could not believe that she found all of the materials for this bracelet at a local craft store. The last time I was in a craft store they didn't carry anything that you could use to make nice jewelry. The same day, I was off to my local craft store. I spent a lot of money but, using those supplies I felt a rush of inspiration wash over me and it happens to me each time I look at my jewelry making supplies. A number of years ago I begun making jewelry that I was comfortable giving to my friends and family. My family suggested to me that it might be a good idea to try to sell some of my handcrafted jewelry online. I wasn't sure about it at first but, once my items were selling and making real money, I was hooked! I have been making and selling jewelry full time for over ten years now. I have taken some classes but, I am mostly self taught. I love to learn, I try to learn something new everyday. I am inspired by nature, cultures, my kids artwork and just about everything else. Jewelry making has been an amazing journey in my life. In 2008 a dichroic glass pendant of mine was selected to be featured in an annual glass supply catalog as well as an artist spotlight on me! It was an amazing experience and the gift certificate was very handy. I have even been spotted in random places and love hearing "aren't you the one in that Delphi catalog" what a wonderful feeling! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
