Southern Wrapsody is a partnership of two crafters who developed an addictive love of fabric. Based in Georgia, we began making fabric coiled baskets in early 2011 and enjoyed it so much we had to open a "store" to keep from being overrun with our creations!

Our design process begins once we find an interesting fabric that catches our eye. We cut the fabric into strips, wrap each strip around clothesline, and then using a sewing machine, we transform the wrapped cord into a design of our liking. Occasionally the design has a mind of it's own and destines itself into something unplanned. But that's part of the fun of making fabric coiled designs - you never know where the next stitch will take you.

Equally enjoyable is observing a fabric as it changes from it's initial appearance into cut strips. Patterns once visible no longer are. But in it's place is a surprise of randomly distributed bits and pieces of the original fabric design which hopefully has become a unique element in it's own right.
