Thimble & Stone creates Bridge style jewelry as well as items made from yarn and fabrics. My motto, "from inspiration to creation", is one that I feel best fits the ever challenging flow of artistic talent that comes from within. My name is Shelly, owner of Thimble & Stone, I was born and raised in Vermont, one of the most scenic areas I have had the privilege to grow up in. Being taught to knit and crochet by both my mother and grandmother, started my journey in to hand-made. In later years the 4-H group I belonged to taught me a great love of sewing. The jewelry making grew out of a desire to have certain pieces for certain outfits, and not able to find, "just what I wanted", I began making my own, learning more and more techniques from friends, jewelry making magazines and books. I was also greatly influenced by a liberal arts college in our town during the 60's & 70's. The "Hippies" taught me about differences and how we all are living in the same world, how not to be afraid to go beyond the artistic limits and always be authentic. I am grateful and blessed for the above experiences. After much travel around the country and overseas, I have come to settle in Kentucky. It too has a great scenic beauty and embraces art from old to new. The rich heritage is quite vivid when looking at Kentucky art. I have had some wonderful opportunities to be exposed to, and to enrich from. Today, I have been making high quality bridge jewelry for over 25 years, fabric items for over 30 years, and yarn items longer than that. With so many people telling me, "you ought to sell that!", I decided to do just that and Thimble & Stone has been born. To all who visit here, welcome! I come from an era where we waved at passing cars, and gave a smile to people we passed on the street! I am fortunate to live in an area today, where that friendly smile and welcome wave remain. Please enjoy, and know that I stand behind the quality and workmanship of Thimble & Stone.
Fiesta necklace is made with all crocheted seed beads on cotton threads,so it's safe for those allergic to certain metals.
Twisted Seedster, a bracelet made with seed beads and crochet cotton. Braided together and fastened with a seed bead button and loop!
Hand crocheted hair clip or shawl clip. Using novelty yarn for an added touch of whimsy!
My own design once more, in the sewing catagory. I have nicknamed it "Scarfat" because it has a visor, like a hat, attached to a scarf, for full head coverage!
