Skills and Techniques
Each of my art quilts is an original design. I primarily use 100% cotton fabrics with 80/20 cotton/poly or warm and natural batting. Each quilt has a hanging sleeve and is ready to hang on the wall of your home or office.
Get to Know
I started quilting as a hobby in 1990 after admiring quilts for many years. I attended as many quilt classes as I could put in my schedule while working full time and quilting soon became my passion.
In 1996, I was asked to teach a quilt class on one of my designs. I found that I enjoyed teaching, students enjoyed my classes and I began to teach classes frequently. My"specialty" has become a Mystery Class. I come up with an idea for a quilt, give limited directions so students can bring fabric and supplies to class for the quilt and then give clues during the class to solve the mystery and create a quilt.
In 1998, I was able to devote more time to quilting and in addition to teaching I began to sell my creations. My business, Uniquely Jen Quilt Creations was launched and I have sold my creations at stores, gallaries and craft fairs since then.
Rather than follow standard quilt patterns, I enjoy creating and implementing a quilt from my own designs or by manipulating a pattern. Many of my designs have three dimensional elements created by "fussy" cutting fabrics and using silk florals to create unique quilts. These designs are usually made into wall hangings that are now adorning walls around the US as well as the world including such places as Taiwan, China, The Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Germany and England.
In addition to my designed creations I also quilt a variety of other items including full size bed quilts, memory quilts made from photographs or t-shirt emblems, lap quilts, baby quilts, table runners, placemats and hot pads that are useful as gifts or home decor.
In February 2009, I had an exhitit of my quilts at Artisans At the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, WA. I also have items for sale on an on-goinging basis at the "Barn" store.
After attending a workshop at Gail Harker's Design Studio in Oak Harbor, WA, I have been creating more art quilts.
When I am not quilting, I enjoy reading, watercolor, gardening, camping, boating, fishing, walking and bike riding.

These containers hold the majority of my fabrics. I have fabrics somewhat organized by color or type of fabric.
From my own collection. This was the first 3-dimensional quilt I made with raw edge applique.
From my own collection. This wallhanging was made with little pieces of fabric to form the design and lots of threadwork.
