The Passion To Create Beauty
Beauty and passion go hand in hand. When someone is living their passion, they put much more energy in making their world beautiful. Simona Counts has long had a passion for all things beautiful. A graduate of Law School, after years of working in the legal profession she quit her day job to pursue her dream of creating beauty and growing her company, "ADORA by Simona". She is passionate about creating quality, one-of-a-kind jewelry that embodies her free spirit and love for nature.
Originally from Bucharest, Romania, after a long career as a runway model, Simona got her Master's in Law in 1999 before relocating to Monterey, California. With no formal education in jewelry making, she learned as much as she could along the way. At the beginning of 2012 she made the difficult decision of abandoning the legal profession in an attempt to focus more on the creative aspect in her life.
None of Simona's designs are sketched. Oftentimes she will let the stones tell her what they want to become. Her creations are trending towards bold and asymmetrical, with lots of texture, and in colors that are often drawn from nature. The materials she uses - semiprecious stones, natural and glass pearls, shell, crystals, Venetian glass -, are all carefully and lovingly selected by her at gem shows and in her travels. Her designs are original, trying hard to keep up with the ever-changing fashion. Styles also vary, in her effort to create something that will please all tastes.
"I've always looked to find the diamond hidden in the lump of coal or the lustrous pearl buried under the hard shell. Beauty is everywhere. You just have to look for it.
It is that passion to create something beautiful. And having found inspiration in everything that surrounds me, I hope to use my passion to go even further with it every day. Thank you for allowing me to create beauty in your lives.
