Individual artist bios:

Christy Dillard - As a youngster, Christy took art classes and always loved solving the problem of creating a thing of beauty out of common objects. She fell in love with gourd basketry in 1990 and finds that working with them is stimulating and challenging. Each gourd is unique in size and shape because it is a gift from nature. She uses the specific characteristics of the gourd to create a design, using techniques such as burning patterns, painting, or drawing with colored pencils. Embellishments are beads or other objects from nature, such as antlers or twigs.

Christy works with special education students at Bergman schools.

Her decorated gourds and jewelry are available in the gallery. She also accepts special orders and commissions.

D. Savannah George - dSavannah is a multi-disciplinary, self-taught artist - she paints, draws, takes photographs, crochets, writes, and makes beaded jewelry and notecards. Her crocheted snowflake ornaments, postcards, jewelry, bookmarks, and photography are available for sale in the gallery

dSavannah believes art is a kind of meditation, a channeling of the great river of beauty in the world. She feels there are many ideas, many modes of expression, and many ways of seeing the world. Her work combines her love of art, color, and the environment, as evidenced by the use or photographic capture of scraps of paper, beads, found objects, stamps, dead flowers, or whatever feels right. She has spent most of her career in marketing communications, and is happy to now have the time to focus on making art.

Ann Graffy - Ann is a studio artist specializing in pottery and painting. She earned her B.A. degree in art from the University of Arkansas- Fayetteville. She later studied at Fontbonne College in St. Louis, MO, where she developed her interest in clay. After years of teaching, she moved to New Mexico to work on her art full time. There she completed further study at Sagrada Studios in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She now lives in Northwest Arkansas. Ann sells her work in galleries from Taos, New Mexico, to Indianapolis, Indiana. Her pottery and paintings are available for sale in the gallery.

Helen McAllister - Helen taught elementary school for 42 years in Florida, Arkansas, and Maine, before retiring in Harrison in 2009. As a child, she was not allowed to make messes, so it stifled her creativity. Teaching second graders and having her own classroom allowed her to explore the world of crafting.

She took stained glass classes in Waterville, Maine for 3 years. During that time she also learned how to fuse glass, make diachronic jewelry, and wrap cabochons. Beading and pottery have been added to her repertoire since moving to Arkansas.

Her jewelry and pottery is for sale in the gallery.

Amelia A. Renkel - Amelia makes one-of-a-kind jewelry, bookmarks, abstract art, and doll clothes & accessories. She also takes photographs, all of which can all be found in the gallery.

She is a graduate of Leslie Public School in Leslie, AR. About one month after her 18th birthday, she joined the U.S. Air Force on full-time active duty. She returned to Arkansas in July 1994 after serving 12 years. While in service, she received two associate degrees.

Amelia believes art is often a gift of the heart. This sharing of the soul gives art its beauty and universal appeal. For many, art is more than just a hobby; it is a form of therapy that helps them cope with pain and frustration. It allows the artist to express or escape from the limitations of the body; it can focus the mind and calm the spirit. Though she is mostly self-taught as an artist, Amelia took art classes at North Arkansas College while getting another associate degree in Graphic Design. She loves playing with colors, lines, shapes, and textures.

She accepts custom orders on a limited basis.

Sandy Williams - Sandy has been living and drawing in the Ozarks for most of her life. From the age of five, she spent all her spare time drawing people, animals, flowers or clouds on cardboard cartons, paper bags, and used envelopes. In 1979, she discovered watercolors and the joy of "coloring in" her drawings. She likes to capture the little things in nature like birds, animals, flowers, people, and places.

After two years of college, thirteen years of graphic design work, and countless freelance art projects, Sandy's artwork and techniques have changed considerably. She recently started experimenting with acrylics, pastels, and mixed media. Her watercolor paintings, fine art prints, painted ornaments, and bracelets are available in the gallery.

Sandy works full time at the Boone County Library as a children's library clerk. She designed the Artists of the Ozarks current logo & signage.

She accepts special orders and commissions.
