I worked nearly 30 years at a major telecommunications company doing software testing, which is quite stressful. I always enjoyed doing crafts of many kinds to relax. In 1999 I took an early retirement (ha), and went to work as a consultant doing the same thing, but making more money and having less stress. Then my stress really took a toll on my health. I decided to do what I had always teased about: work in a jewelry store or pet store. Instead, I opened a boutique for pets and their people, with pet items of every kind and jewelry, purses and accessories for their humans. After 2 years, I decided I couldn't do it anymore by myself, so I closed it and I'm now on disability. Just priori to opening the boutique I started making jewelry and picked it up again after I closed the store. I am learning new stles and techniques all the time and really enjoying it. I am now on eBay as blingupreme (many years), Etsy as blingsupreme and sell at craft shows and home parties.
