Hello my name is Christina Gurnham. I am a woodworker in Reston, Virginia. I have been wood working for about 5 years now. I specialize in intarsia wood working.
Intarsia uses a scroll saw to cut pieces of wood similar to a puzzle making. these pieces are then shaped and rounded to give depth and character. Then the wood pieces are glued together, a backing, and ornament hook is a applied. Several coats of finish are applied to each piece, which hand sanding in-between. The result is beautiful but time consuming!
I also love to turn wood on a lathe. I use the lathe to make bottle stoppers, USB drives and hopefully some Christmas ornaments this year.
I enjoy doing craft show and meeting customers. I like watching people smile as they purchase my products.
