Get to Know
The Gilded Quill is both a magical supply business as well as the home to the glittery personality of Fairy Princess Lolly. My name is Ammie Hague and I founded this company in 2005 as a venue for expressing my love of unique, handmade work. Since then, it has grown to include an assortment of handmade magical supplies as well as encompassing the persona of Lolly.
From decorative journals and spell books, to elegant magic wands to flashy feather quills, handmade papers and crystal potions, everything I carry in my store lovingly handmade and one of a kind. By capturing the beauty of nature around us everyday, using my products conveys a marvelous energetic quality. I personally research, blend, sew and craft every every item (magic wands in conjunction with Johann and Son Master Wandmakers) Ã˘EUR" creating intense magical tools that are true to their essence.
In order to maintain a small environmental footprint, I work to use natural, raw materials around me as much as possible. Packaging is kept to a minimum and supplies are often based on seasonal availability. With the Gilded Quill, you are guaranteed to have the product of our love and passion to compliment you on your journey.
The Gilded Quill is complimented by our partner Johann & Son master wandmakers, specializing in a wide selection of handmade, magic wands and is a proud member of the Fellowship of Wandmakers. Each wand is finished with its natural hue and attributes, crafted from from traditional Druidic woods to exotic African, South American, Asian and Native American woods. I research the magical properties, myth, history and folklore of each wood carefully.
The persona of Lolly is a Fairy Princess who entertains children with fantastical games and magical crafts. She is a brightly costumed fairy, with full wings, dazzling skirts, leather ears, face make-up and a chiming wand. Her outfits range from Victorian and Elizabethan inspired, to full fantasy.
She travels around festivals, faires and conventions granting children their fairy names, hiding treasure, playing giant croquet and causing general mischief Ã˘EUR" usually with the pesky Goblins, smelly Barbarians and pillaging Pirates. Sometimes she even weaves glittering strands of fairy hair in exchange for mortal coin.
When the Princess is around, every child (big or small) gets sweets from her magic apple, a sprinkle of fairy dust and a bit of dross (treasure) from the box. Lolly is designed to entertain children and interact with the general crowd in a fun fashion as a fantasy element to which they can easily relate.
In addition, the Fairy Princess can also be also be booked for parties, tea, or other impromptu events such as wand-making or magic seed planting workshops. Please enjoy our site and feel free to email me here at the Gilded Quill for price quotes, questions or comments!
This was a joint project that I did a few years ago to make a prop for the indy movie "The Resurrectionist", which aired at the HP Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, OR. To this day it is the biggest book I've made.
This was a fun book of fairy tales. To my surprise and compliment, it sold to Courtney Love Cobain!
I loved this Hobgoblin Handbook. It opens backwards (because hobs are mischievous) and the inner covers and pages are all decorated in a 'dragon-ology' style.
My first Elvish Spellbook. This is a large book that I sold at Faerieworlds, totally handmade with pine-cones and leaves. It represents the beginning of my work as it relates to the realm of Fae.
