Hi everyone, My name is Kim and I reside in Ohio via Indiana via California and a few stops in between.
Interests
Besides beading, I have a passion for the natural world. Plants, animals, even the creepiest insects. I feel the need to stay amazed and curious at all things not manmade. I have always loved rocks and glass so this was a natural transition for me.
Skills and Techniques
I am a licensed Optician by day( and night for that matter). I bead and create when I have time and when the ideas pop in my head. I also did wildlife rehabilitation when I lived in Indiana.
Get to Know
My name is Kim and I have been beading for about 3 years. I have a day job as a Licensed Optician.
I love the feel, texture and colors of beads. Artfire is my way of justifying my surplus inventory of future ideas that have not yet come to pass lol.
I am downright passionate about animals and nature. I have a "live and let live" philosophy and try everyday to be as kind as possible because everyone is fighting a personal battle.
I use only glass, Swarovski , artisan, semi-precious and when possible sterling, gold-vermeil, overlay or sterling plated. I try to stay as organic as possible. I will disclose if a component is base metal.
The story of the "WINKER" came about when a friend of mine bought me a beautiful dreidel shaped SWAROVSKI crystal and told me every time it cast light it would symbolize him winking at me. It was only strung on a fishing line and the line broke quite quickly. So, I strung it with beautiful glass beads and called it my "WINKER". It quickly caught on and everyone I knew wanted a "WINKER" as a gift for someone. These suncatchers come with a pretty organza bag and a story card so your loved one will know you're winking at them....spread the joy :)
