Get to Know
I'm a geologist by training, and I've always had a love for color, design, texture, and working with my hands. Geology plays a strong role in my jewelry through my use of natural gemstones. I strive to appreciate and celebrate the variety found in nature by choosing gemstones with character.
Why "Lava Jewelry"? Well, it fits in with what I do. I study volcanoes, and many of my friends will tell you that there are few things in life I love better than red hot magma. And for those of you who are wondering... I do carry three types of lava: basalt, rhyolite, and obsidian.
I studied jewelry-making at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, CA, and metalsmithing at Mission College in Santa Clara, CA.
I work in a completely smoke-free home. Two cats live in my house with me, but they do not help me make jewelry. I tried to teach them once, but in all honesty, my cats just don't have the knack for wire wrapping.
I live near San Jose, CA, and I like to use my weekends for hiking, camping, and photography.
