Quick Blurb

Jewelry artist, Vandy Moore, uses metal clay & stones to capture elements of nature - butterflies, leaves, feathers & more...

Interests

Hiking, making jewelry, beading, camping, photography, painting, writing, reading, rock-hounding, exploring, traveling -- pretty much anything outdoors in nature that is not destructive.

Skills and Techniques

Vandy took art classes all through high school and college and has worked in a variety of mediums including acrylics, watercolors, oils, pen & ink, colored pencils, photography, mixed media, and metal. I originally took up making jewelry 15 years ago as a way to spend time with my husband while he was watching football. I started with simple beading projects and have worked into creating with metal clay, doing lapidary work, working with resin, experimenting with glass casting, and now completing complex beaded pieces. I pretty much always have some kind of creative project that I am working on as a means of expressing who I AM. I cant even imagine a life without art in some form or another.

Get to Know

Originally from Oklahoma, Vandy moved to Utah in 2004 to live amongst the mountains. Vandy currently lives in Fishlake National Forest in Clear Creek Canyon approximately two miles from Fremont Indian State Park in central Utah. I am blessed to be so surrounded by beauty. The canyon fills my cup and often makes me feel fat like a cat lazing in the sun. I can not help but be inspired by what I see and how the canyon makes me feel. The Earth speaks to me here.
Born into a family of professional graphic and fine artist, Vandy has always had the means, encouragement, and expert advice to creative and freely express herself. I was raised with and in art. I learned at a very young age to love and appreciate art in all its forms. I especially love creating jewelry because, in jewelry form, art becomes wearable - the idea of that intrigues me. Professionally, Vandy has shown at Sagebrush Art Gallery in the Fremont Indian State Park & Museum. Her work has not only been shown in the gallery but can also be purchased in the museum gift stop. In addition she has sold her jewelry in Missouri at the Applegate Crafts Festival and at Mayfest in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
