Skills and Techniques
Candles are used using 100% soy wax, a small amount of beeswax, cotton wicks, and fragrance oils. All candles are poured into glass jelly jars, unique containers designed to handle high temperatures, or tart molds.
Handmade soaps are made from "melt and pour" soap bases, fragrance oils, and occasionally dyes designed for soap. All soaps are poured into soap molds or in small containers to be cut into bars. We weigh each soap to make sure you know how much soap you're getting from each item listed.

Prairie Soy Candles is a mother-daughter team which started in 2005. Kyla Huffaker, mother, is the creator of all the beautiful candles you see within this shop. Kara Kelso, daughter, is in charge of website design and sales.
In 2010, Kara's 8yr-old daughter, Jillian, joined the business with her own line of handmade soaps. Each soap is carefully created using melt and pour soaps, fragrance oils, and occasionally dyes designed for soaps. She uses hand-picked molds for her creations, with very little help from mom.
