Sleeping Dogs Studio has been in business for the past 15 years, and is the original purveyor of handmade frames, earring holders, boxes, and greeting cards located in the Midwest. Current stores showcasing our work include over 25 national retail outlets, many of which are consistently recognized as NICHE Magazine top retailers, year after year.
It is NOT our goal to be the BIGGEST studio of this type, but the best! Our hand-crafted items have been a unique alternative for one-of-a-kind art objects and paper-crafts throughout the Midwest. First formed as Paper Works in 1996, the studio was renamed in honor of our two lovable shelter animals who joined the home studio in 2004.
Throughout the years, inspirations for the work have remained everyday elements, the kind of natural items such as leaves and fibers that others might walk by without even noticing, and historical elements, including vintage photographs.
Each product is an elaborate collage, and every design is truly one-of-a-kind. We pride ourselves on the fact that all of our art objects are made through a painstaking process that includes looking through hundreds of pieces of paper and a huge variety of embellishments,fibers, rubber-stamped images, postage stamps, found objects, handmade papers, and vintage photos until finding just the right combination.
Our goal is to recycle and elevate everyday objects into lovely pieces of art that are reasonably priced, and available to all. We hope you'll agree that the hard work is worth it!
