Why There Is Nothing New In My Shop

I am running the family business, a used book store, by myself while caring for my husband, who is approaching end-stage non-alcohol related liver disease.  He has a multitude of health issues; this is the most emergent.  It may be a very, very long time before I get anything new listed.  I feel like I made a terrible mistake in purchasing a year's worth of exposure on ArtFire, as I have no time to keep the shop filled or promote it like I should.  Next vacation - if I'm not sitting in a hospital waiting room 24-7 - I'll take pictures and list some of the pieces I have sitting around here.Cheers. ... » Read More

I've deactivated almost all my pieces - they are on consignment with a lovely shop and I hope to see a few more sales from the 'in-person' venue.  I'm doing some massive in-studio reorganization and hope to list more supplies/destash items in the very near future.  Moving forward, always forward.Cheers!... » Read More

My First Sale on ArtFire!

Like so many others, I was disenchanted by the selling site, Etsy.  My last sale there was in September of last year.  I thought I had merely boarded up my shops there, but apparently Etsy decided to blow them up and salt the earth where they had been standing.  So I joined ArtFire in late April; after nearly two months of my scattered time to get (almost) everything posted from scratch, I felt ready to throw open the cyber doors.  I checked in every day, tweaked this and that, promised myself I'd read the ArtFire sellers' guide "to success" at some point and post something in the forums at least once a day.  We all know how ... » Read More

Time Evaporates

Time is a rapidly disappearing concept for me at the moment.  I started up my ArtFire shop with every intention of filling it with all the pieces I've made (and hoarded) but as I have come to see, running a used bookstore full time has placed some serious constraints on me.  When I listed things elsewhere, it was when I had the luxury of large chunks of time to myself.  Things change and I'm still adapting to those changes.I've managed to inventory the pieces I want to list, now it's just a matter of taking new photos for some of them and writing their descriptions.  What should only take a few hours has suddenly become a monumental undertakin... » Read More
