Break Time

It's been a crazy month re-photographing all my stock whenever I've had a spare moment. I have about 200 items and many new ones that haven't been posted or written up yet. I went through a box and a half of lightbulbs in the process! It's tough trying to start something like this shop up and running when you only get a day or two off a week, sometimes not even back to back.      One thing that's made life much easier is the bustform I got about six months ago but am only now getting around to using. It looks like a woman's torso in white plastic. I hang it from a rolling clothing rack in front of a backdrop - It's made photographing ... » Read More

Funday?

Can I just take a minute here and geek out? This week I've taken an old favorite off my dusty and neglected Anime shelf and started re-watching it. The Vision of Escaflowne has everything  - romance, dragons, divination, mecha battles, angelic beings, Atlantis, airships, cat girls, gender-benders, track & field...see what I mean? I could go on, but if you're interested I've already got you and if not, well, sorry, but it's a great piece of nostalgia for fantasy fans! How about that totally weird, inappropriate-for-the-mood pop dance music that played over the credits? What was that about? You're crazy, anime! But we still love you...  ... » Read More

Saturday Morning Recap

I hope everyone's enjoyed our wander through the Pantone Color Report for 2012. I know I came out of it full of fresh ideas and inspiration. Today's collection features items that combine two or more of the colors in the Pantone report, cause mixing and matching is the best part! I have included some personal favorites from the week's collections and a few new items as well. Check back Sunday for something completely new! Margarita and Cabret: Spring Springs Early in 2012 Fashion Report.

Get a load of Pantone's pretty pastel green! They call it Margarita and it's all set to take the fashion world by storm. It leans more toward electric lime than mint. I've paired it here with their bold pink selection for this season named Cabret. Hopefully it's inclusion in the forecast means I will finally find the perfect hot pink sweater I've always wanted this year ;) The Cabret collection actually made it to Artdfire's Daily Email and front page earlier this week. Congrats to everyone involved!      Skip the April showers and go straight to May flowers with these great handmade items from the crafty folks of Artfire.com. Happy F... » Read More

Sodalite and Bellflower, BFFF's in the Pantone report.

When I look at these two color selections, all I can think of are the Afriacan Violets my mum used to keep when I was a kid. I love all kinds of purple, so Bellflower is a great choice for me, and the rich blue tone of Sodalite makes a wonderful deep accent. Being that Sodalite is a type of ornamental gem, selecting awesome accessories is not too difficult!           Have a look at these collections of on-trend items from Artfire's skilled designers, and if you should find a favorite, scoot on over to their shop and pick it up for yourself!Bellflower Curated By: EtheraPerilArtFire.comFine Art PhotographySodalite Selections Curat... » Read More

The Cockatoo/Driftwood Paradox

I've gotta be honest, this is probably my favorite color combo from the Pantone report. This icy yet somehow absolutely tropical blue, named Cockatoo, puts one in mind of the beautiful Chalcedony gem and the ever-popular Turquoise, making the selection of appropriate accessories a breeze. It puts me in mind of summer time and those weird blue raspberry Mr. Freezes just looking at it!     At the other end of the spectrum you have Pantone's neutral grey shade named Driftwood, a subtle compliment to the crazy burst of color provided by Cockatoo. The whole thing leaves me wondering how in the hell these two decidedly cold colors can look ... » Read More

Hot for 2012: Brown and Lilac Shades from Pantone's Color Report

Introducing Sweet Lilac and Starfish, the next two selections from Pantone's annual report. I could shop forever in the Sweet Lilac color range - it's my favorite of this year's picks. I even had my bedroom painted a similar shade before I moved in with my fella. It's a little too pink to pass off as purple when it's covering a whole room ;)    The other feature in this issue is the soft neutral brown shade called Starfish, an admittedly difficult color to find on Artfire at this point. Lucky for you I've taken all the work out today with a couple convenient collections of handmade items to highlight designers using these great color p... » Read More

Hello world, my name's Annie and I run a little shop via Artfire.com called Atelier Peril (www.atelierperil.com) where I sell handmade jewelry and clothing. I also draw, paint and engage in various and sundry crafts that often have an end use relating to costuming.
