The
cart is the best way to transport your craft show belongs such as
tents, chairs and plastic boxes full of products to your assigned
station.
We
looked at quite a few types of carts and decided that this one is the
best one for us. All of the sides can be folded down to use the cart as a
flat bed. This cart can hold up to 1000 pounds. The handle can be
removed and the cart can be hooked up to an electric lawn mower.
This cart does double duty as a table to display our products for the
show. We don't have to take it back out to the truck while the show is
going on. We use our plastic boxes for ta... » Read More
September 2nd, our 11th day of selling.
We signed in today at 84 on the fill-in list. Our number didn't change this week.
This
week we decided to finally try the ramp. Our space was #428. My mom and
I both really liked this space. We talked about the space and
considered the weather and how many people walk up the ramp. The people
that use the ramp are families with strollers and bicyclist.
Early
during the morning we had a couple walk up and sneak a picture of our
table full of products. Then the man said it is made with good quality
fabrics. No this didn't reek someone going to steal my d... » Read More
I
hear you asking yourself if tent weights are necessary! I asked myself
the same thing. Let me ask you this. Are you doing a show outside? If
yes, then yes you need weights. I have seen a tent flip over. The breeze
caught the tent just right and flipped it. If you would like to keep
your tent grounded, over your head and not blowing down the isle then
you need weights on each leg. Not to worry thou, weights don't need to
be expensive.
Here is an inexpensive idea how to build your own weights.
We
use 4 milk jugs (one for each leg) filled with sand as tent weights. We
purchased the sand at the locale hardw... » Read More
August 26th, our 10th day of selling.
We signed in today at 84 on the fill-in list. Our number didn't change this week.
We chose a different spot again today. This time we chose #412. We were
across from the corner space we were at in July. The 300 and 400 row
seem to get a lot of customers roaming through. Row 100 was very dead
for us and we stayed there the first 4 times we were out there. We were
going to try the ramp today but it was full by the time we were allowed
to chose.
We had a lot of customers stopping by. We noticed that a lot of the
customers wanted to feel the kindle or ipad covers to see if... » Read More
An online friend posted a dorset button she made. She
had just made her first one and was eager to share with us. I love to
share new ideas and I just loved hers. I must say after I saw the button
I wanted to try to make one myself. A few days later I bought a few
items to give it a try. I got hooked on them. Now, I'm learning how to
make dorset buttons to add to my designs. This is my second one. The
first one was a complete and utter wash. I didn't want to waste the ring
so I ripped it all out and started over again. This is called the wheel
design. It looks like a wagon or bike wheel to me.

August 19th, our 9th day of selling.
We signed in today at 84 on the fill-in list. Last week we were at 86. Our number keeps moving up inch by inch.
Today we chose a different spot again. We are still in the search for
the perfect space for our booth out there. We chose under the bridge in
isle 300 for this weeks trial. One of the suggestions we received from
various vendors when we first started is to try different spaces out.
What works for one vendor doesn't for another.
One of the vendors next store decided to move to a brighter space since
they didn't bring any lights. We decided to open one side of the... » Read More

This is what I've been working on the last couple of days. The entire
design is stitched out with aqua metallic thread on a light suede cloth.
The Eiffel Tower is one of my first designs that I created.
I made a new Fleur de Lis border for this project.
I've also been working on two dorset buttons (not picured) to go with it.
I hope this project gets done this week.

This
is the Orca I sketched earlier this month. I drew the Orca from a
picture of a live whale in the ocean. Of course, I didn't take the
picture but it took a while to find one online that showed the whale
from a full side view. The photo I used was taken by a professional
driver taking pictures of Orcas in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of
California. After I drew the whale in a simple form, I transferred it to
an embroidery design. The test embroidery is shown below.
Growing
up in California was in no way lacking on things to do. I remember
seeing my first killer whale when I was 6 years old. My school took us
to Se... » Read More

I
have always loved the paw print it is one of my favorite things. I
love my puppies paws. They are so big when they are puppies and they
grow into them. The paw print shows where they have walked in the yard
leaving a track on prints in the water, mud or snow.
My
paw print sketch is a very crude pencil sketch. I tried to simplify my
puppies paw print to the simplest form. Embroideries are better that way
for me right now.
Here
is the example of the embroidery paw print after I digitized it as an
machine embroidery design. I've been using this embroidery on paw towels
and totes for a while now. ... » Read More

Portland
Oregon is listed as one of the top 10 states with the highest amount
of bicyclist in a city. That is quite an honor since there are so many
thousands of cities. I already knew there were a lot of cyclist in the
Portland but I never realized we were in the top 10 cities. WoW!!!
Inspired by the news and looking for embroideries that would appeal to
both genders I thought I would design my own bike embroidery. I found
neon pink and neon green thread and tested it out with those colors. I
just love the neon pink bicycle.
This
is the first bike we embroidered on a Kindle Fire case in neon green.

Introducing
our new Amazon Kindle Fire, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard sleeve cases.
These will keep your Kindle safe, secure and clean. We pad our Kindle
covers with fleece to insure it has enough padding in case it gets
dropped.
Our
Kindles offer a flap with velcro (hook and loop) closure. The soft
cotton lining helps keep the screen clean and scratch free.
There
is also a pocket on the back under the flap. The flap helps keep items
from falling out of the pocket. The top of the pocket is top stitched.
All seams are surged and enclosed beneath the lining.

I
certainly didn't think that lighting would be a big deal. I thought a
lamp is a lamp is a lamp. Just grab a lamp not in use and we would have
plenty of light in the tent. This is sadly not the case.
When it comes to lighting your craft tent it is just as important as
buying the proper tent. The lighting illuminates your products and
provides a welcoming glow to your tent. It welcomes the customers in to
stop and look at your products. After all no one wants to enter a dark
cave. Lesson learned the hard way.
If you want to get an idea of what type of lighting you should use, I
suggest going to a craft show / farmers market n... » Read More
Today is July 29th, our 8th day of selling. We signed in today at 86 on the fill-in list. Last week we were at 87. One more down. We
have been trying to get into different spots to sell. This week we got
into a 10x10 corner under the bridge. This spot is just off of the ramp.
There is a lot of people that walk through this section. We set up with
to one of the side walls up today. We have two open sides. We lined up
the table and cart to corner in the front. I also made the new price
list to be placed in front of each item. I still need to update them
with the new information for next time.We
noticed when we got there today that th... » Read More
