What have I been doing? Oh, my goodness -- lots of things.I have been working on a series of "Seven Sorrows of Mary" Rosaries. As all mothers experience the pain suffered by their children, certainly Mary experienced the pain suffered by her son, Jesus. Creating a line of "Random Acts of Kindness" bead ladders and bracelets. A tool to wear and use in a personal commitment to seek a higher level of grace. Creating a unique "23rd Psalm" Bracelet and Necklace, where every word of the Psalm is represented by a bead. The design is both a statement of faith and a memory aid to recite the Psalm. Creating a "Colors of Faith" line of Bracelets and Necklace... » Read More

Nope, the rosary is not just for Catholics.Prayer beads are used in many religious for prayers. Christians contemplate the story of the Gospel when saying the prayers of the rosary. Pope John Paul II said,"The Rosary, though clearly Marian in character, is at heart a Christocentric prayer. In the sobriety of its elements, it has all the Gospel, of which it can be said to be a compendium."What about the Hail Mary's? The Hail Mary is the greeting from the Angel Gabriel when the news was proclaimed to Mary that she would give birth to Jesus. What did Jesus say to us of Mary? He looked down from the cross and said to Peter, "Here is your mother."... » Read More

This morning a Mass will be celebrated for my late husband Wayne Wiley at St. Mary's Parish. We remember Wayne daily, but today will be a special time to remember an outstanding teacher, a champion racer, a loyal friend, a faithful Christian, a fantastic father, a wonderful husband, and a great man. Wayne is always in our hearts and minds. He is always in our prayers. His influence and presence is always felt.May he have peace in the arms of Christ and the Angels. And, May Peace be with You!Lois... » Read More

I suggested that you remind me to tell you the story about "a real #doctor" and so here it is.During my doctoral work at #Indiana State University, School of Technology, I had a lovely professor who I greatly admired. This man did not take himself too seriously. He was very humble. He was terribly intelligent. He was an example to us all. He laughed often and long. He was loving to his learners. It was unimportant that he had terminal cancer. He was living life fully--until the time came to die. One day I asked him how he could keep so grounded with all his achievements. He said, "I don't have to worry about that. My family does it for me." Afte... » Read More

Dr?  Lois?  uop?Just yesterday I was asked about the meaning of my email address. A gentleman said, "Your email says doctor, are you really a doctor?"  Great Question. Allow me to explain my email address. The "Dr" part of "DrLoisuop@gmail.com" is because I am a doctor. The title doctor was awarded with a Ph.D. in Technology Management. The "Lois" part of the address is me, myself, and I. :-)  The "uop" stands for Unique Original Person. Huh? Yep, that is what I said. Now, you may ask -- Why? Another excellent question. Here is my equally excellent answer. My graduate students called me Dr. Lois and so I thought to use that as the user name p... » Read More

Conceptual GodI hope that no one misunderstands this post. This is a random thought and a bit of philosophy applied to Man's (and Woman's) Best Friend. It occurred to me that the love from a pet is an illustration of God's love for us. Goldie with his golden shining eyes looks into my face looking for some hint of my mood, my attitude, my love for him. Even if I am unresponsive to his desire for my attention and affection, Goldie offers his attention and affection to me. The English language is not rich with multiple word choices that explain the intent of the speaker or writer. If one seeks a Greek word as replacement for the intent of the En... » Read More

There was zip, zero, nada, no awareness that this picture was being taken. Where did I go and how did I get there? It is amazing that when designing and creating--I GO AWAY.Where do I go?        I have no awareness of the passage of time.                I'm shocked when my husband speaks.                             How did he sneak up on me?                                                    ANSWER: I was not there!I simply go to a place of total ... » Read More
I must give credit where credit is due. My beautiful soon to be grand-daughter-in-law is doing the photography of my rosaries. Karla is both lovely and talented. Her brother is a professional photographer, but Karla seems to have the same skills. Her new pictures are so much nicer than our earlier pictures with our old camera. Please enjoy the new, sharper, brighter, and well-composed photography.LoisThank you, Karla!I love you, welcome to the family . . . And so it goes . . . ... » Read More
Yep, a wedding it will be . . . I did not get a great deal done on the site today. Remember my comments about having too many ideas and not enough time or energy to create all of them? Well, now my mind is swimming with ideas for wedding jewelry. My grandson, Andrew is getting married to a beautiful young lady who can wear simple pieces or high fashion will equal ease.We discussed several ideas today, drew rough sketches, and I plan to build all of the designs. The first choice will go to Karla, the subject of Andrew's affection. The others I'll post on this site for sale. Stay tuned to see where I go with these ideas because -- there is going ... » Read More
Too Many Ideas . . . I don't know about you, but I have way toooooooooooooooo many ideas. As I am trying to work on building my Art Fire Studio ideas about wire wrap, charm bracelets, designs, and more -- keep attacking my brain. ARGH!There are so many things to do, pictures to edit, descriptions to write, and ideas to contemplate. Oh, yes! I forgot. There are blog postings to do. I fear that my intentions to create are far greater than my physical ability to do so. Has that ever happened to you?I just completed work on three beautiful 14K gold wire wraps with rough cut stones. Unlike wire wrap on polished stone or glass cabs, rough cut wrap is Â... » Read More
