As Blue As The Sky And The Deep Blue Sea

The color blue is a favorite among a large number of people.  I'll bet that if a study was done about a person's favorite color, a large majority of the population would pick some shade of blue as their favorite color. There is sky blue and indigo blue,  periwinkle blue and baby blue But, no matter, what shade is your favorite, you're sure to love at least one of the blues used in these pieces by the Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild on Art Fire. First up is a Morning Glory Covered Needle Case by Art Maker's Worlds  This piece is a wonderful place to store your needles, whether you are han... » Read More

The Art Of Cane Work (Millefiore)

I have always been intrigued by those polymer clay pieces that use thin slices of a intricately crafted polymer clay canes.  The technique was originally used in making glass making and is called millefiori, which , in Italian, means thousand flowers.  Pieces of this detailed glass work have been dated to  ancient Roman, Phoenician, and Alexanderian times.  The technique was lost by the 18th century but rediscovered sometime in the 19th century. I don't kn... » Read More

Dog Toy Debacle

So the other day,  I decided to make a water bottle dog toy for my puppy, Finn.  I'd seen these toys in stores, made from fake fur and other material.  Then, one day I saw one that someone had crocheted for her dog. I wish I could remember where I saw it.  I'd give her credit for the idea.  She said her dog had been playing with for quite some time and still hadn't destroyed it.  So I figured I'd give it a try. I had an empty bottle from a batch of water from Walmart, so I started with that.  I crocheted a holder that fit snuggly around the bottle The toy I'd read about had long strands of yarn attached to ... » Read More

New Endeavor-OOak Art Dolls

I've always loved to sew and paint so I decided to try a new endeavor.  I had a customer who loves quilting and when she saw the project I was working on she offered to buy it when it was completed.  I've made dolls before but they were usually made for my daughter or niece when they were small and not very critical of my work.  Here is my first attempt at making an Art Doll and, if I do say so myself, she came out pretty good. This is Sadie the Quilter who now sits on a shelf in my customer's quilting room.                                                         ... » Read More

Industrial Jewelry

I'm intrigued with this trend.  I've often thought that there was something in the jewelry line that I could do with all the spare washers and nuts that my husband has collected over the years, so I thought I'd make a bracelet and some earrings.  I'm pleased with the results and will be creating more in the future.  Since I love Home Depot anyway, this venture gives me an excuse to wander the aisles looking for more inspiration!                                        ... » Read More

Anti-Social Media

How does everyone find the time to be involved in all the social media sites?  It seems every site has suddenly become obsessed with provided social context to their sites.  I find it hard to keep up with all the sites that have been recommended to me.  What with Twitter, Face Book, Pinterest, Flickr, Stumbleupon and all the others, I don't seem to have time for anything else. I find that I'm rapidly becoming very anti-social and I wonder if anyone else feels the same?   I think I'll create an Anti-Social media site where everyone ignores everyone else and we can all get on with our lives without worrying about other people's opinions.... » Read More
