How to make a fancy widget for your ArtFire store...

First Make yourself a swanky graphic, Make it so it will impart catchy info and make people want to click it, save it as a jpg,png or gif (even animated gifs will work for this)Once you have saved your image, go to your edit a post page on your blogger or blogspot (I use blogger so the images for the example are for that, on blogspot your screen may vary)Start on the compose tab, and click the "add image" button, which will look like a little picture.Select "Upload", and choose the graphic file you made, and upload it.Your Image will now be in the blog panel on the compose tab. Now is the time to adjust the size, if you think it needs any change... » Read More

How to tell if you are being scammed

Today was another round of scam e-mail coming at us from parts unknown, (well I could have known the parts if I'd read the headers, but really there's no use in that, they'll just come from somewhere else next time)And, as always, shortly after they go out, there's someone new to the world of online selling who gets their hopes up (understandably) panics (also understandable) or worse: falls for it. Some people go to the forums to ask "What do I do about this?" quoting the e-mail. Which, when in doubt, is probably the best place to go for peer help. The community here on ArtFire is very helpful and friendly, and since we are all over the world,... » Read More

Doing the Threadless

Hi Gang, well I finally got around to figuring out how to make a threadless submission.I took me two tries to get it right, the instructions with the submission packet are a little fuzzy if you haven't done it before so my first try wasn't high rez'd enough.Basically the design needs to be Big on the 640X800 preview with a smaller layer merged in of "how it will look on the tee" the submission packet is a little vaguely worded so it took me a session of voting to realize how dumb I was and figure out what to do to fix it, lolNow how this works is if it gets a high enough voting score it's considered for printing, and if it's printed, they buy th... » Read More

Here is a primer on ACEO, Trading Card Prints, and ATC art

From Strathmore "How did the movement start? In 1997, M. Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. The movement took off, and today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world. There are also many online swaps." There ARE different types although they are all the same size, here are the differences; ATC stands for Artist Trading Card These are intended as trades with other artists, they are not for sale. No one is selling ATC's. When something is labeled an ATC it i... » Read More

How to make a drawing board for ACEO

Today I am going to explain how to make a small drawing board, just the right size for artist trading cards and popping in your purse or drawing kit. What you will need; Plastic Hi-Tack Masking or White Art Tape One sheet of graph paper One sheet of heavy drawing paper or butchers paper Some clear double sided adhesive (like a Tombow adhesive roller) I advise against glue as a substitute but in a pinch a gluestick can work in place of the doublesided) Rubber Band Clip Frog Tape Locally we have a store called Tap Plastics, now you may have one close to you or not, but you can easily find a similar business by going t... » Read More
