Spring 2012 Great Aswego Kazoo Factory Newsletter

Great Aswego Kazoo Newsletter Spring 2012 NEWSLETTER SPRING 2012 Spring arrived on the homestead early this year!!  It has been almost like we skipped spring and went straight to summer after being blessed with a very mild winter.  As you can see in the picture the homestead is full of color and the bees are busy gathering pollen.  Winter was a busy time in the workshop,  making lots of kazoos and other new original Aswego Folk Instruments and much is planned for this Spring.  I am so happy to start the Spring of 2012 with Aswego Kazoos in all fifty United States and 16 countries.   I send a big old Doc Kazoo Thank Y... » Read More

Gone Fishing

THE ASWEGO COUNTRY CELLO I could have hung a Gone Fishing sign out for the past couple weeks.  But then I don't fish. LOL  I had a nice kazoo slow pace in the workshop giving me some time to work on a couple new folk instruments.  I have been kicking around the idea for the Country Cello for a several years.  One day I was in the workshop storage building getting some boxes and I came across a key part for this instrument, the metal resonator top.  I grabbed it and went looking two other parts I had found over the years and had stashed here and there.  Back to the workshop where an old dust covered wooden bowl sat on a shelf a... » Read More

Aswego Radio - Doc Kazoo Live

Aswego Radio - Doc Kazoo Live Good Monday Morning! Welcome to the first Aswego Radio program.    Before you think "Doc's done gone and lost is mind!", let me explain. LOL  For the past few weeks I have been working on the new music CD and am now starting to edit some of the tracks I have recorded, finalize the play list and start some final recording/mixing.  Since I own the studio and the material I can pretty much produce my work in any manner I want on my own schedule.  Which means I do a lot of recording at all hours of the day and night.  So I thought it would be fun to share a wee bit about the zen of home recording. Doc Kazoo Do-Ma-Flotch-Chee Sit Down Bass

Now this is definitely a ONE OF A KIND handmade folk instrument. I have been thinking about making this instrument for several years just never got around to getting it made. A few weeks ago I decided to "git her done!" and it's almost finished now. It may be a few years before I get around to making another one. After extensive testing, trial and error and lots of fun it is almost ready for final finish.Domaflotchchee is a word we used as a kid to call something when we didn't know what to call it LOL. This instrument is based on the design of a washtub standup bass. The Domaflotchee is designed to be played sitting down in a manner s... » Read More

The New Aswego Electric Broom Wire Cello

THE ASWEGO ELECTRIC BROOM WIRE CELLO In the picture above you will see from front to back three items.  A section of pine handrail, an old wooden salad bowl and the bottom to a 1960's metal bread warmer. For some time I have been comptemplating use of the salad bowl for some sort of instrument.  I had thought of prehaps a diddley bow.  Also for some time I have been wanting to make myself a washtub bass.  This morning I went to the workshop with no goal in mind at all.  Just a play day of sorts.  Finish up the cleaning and just see where I end up.  In cleaning up I came across that old salad bowl and things just seemed to fl... » Read More

The Kazoo Factory Shipping Department

Have you ever went to purchase something online only to discover at checkout that there is a hefty handling charged added to your shipping cost?   I sure have and it really burns me up.  Most often I cancel the purchase and go looking for a place with fair shipping cost and no tacked on handling charges. You never have to be concerned about added shipping charges here at the kazoo factory.  To save you money, as well as save me time and gas all my shipping boxes and packing materials are recycled and handmade.  So there is no cost for me to pass along for you to pay and no need for me to recoup the cost of anything.  The only thin... » Read More

Emails from AsweGo Kazoo Owners

It always makes me happy to get emails and video from new Aswego Kazoo Owners. This morning I shipped a special order Pickers Kazoo and a DIY Kazoo to Steve out in South Lake Tahoe, California.  As with all special order kazoos I posted video updates on the progress of Steve's Pickers Kazoo being made.  This afternoon I received this great email from Steve that made me very happy indeed.  I can't wait until the kazoos arrive for Steve to give them a test drive.  I do believe he will be very happy with both.  Here's what Steve had to say about his special order experience and video updates.  "George, thank you so much for all o... » Read More

A Doc Kazoo Music Video - Blues Ain't Nothing

The Newest Kazooist and Youngest Too

I am proud to present the newest and youngest Aswego Kazooist.  This is Jared's son out in Indiana with his new Custom Picker's Kazoo!  This is my all time favorite kazoo video.  Now this is a talented young man, like his father, who seems to have the basics of kazooing down pat!  It brings a warm glow to this old kazoo maker's heart to see the next generation of kazooist at such an early age.  This  is a special video that I will treasure for a long time.  It was such a pleasure making these kazoos and having  Jared visit the workshop for several days via video and emails.  Special Order kazoos are my favorite kazoos as ... » Read More
