Pin Cushions

I have started off this year with a new item in my shop, pin cushions.  I have made these dress form pincushions with colorful cotton fabrics and I stuffed them with a combination of poly fill and cotton fabric strips.  The stuffing gives a nice easy place to stick pins and needles, but these are so big that if I stuffed them entirely with poly fill they are too light weight and fall over when your placing a pin in it.  The bottom half is stuffed with fabric strips to give it weight and you can stick your pins and needles on the bottom half its just not as smooth to push them in.  Each pin cushion is approximately 8-1/2 inches tall  and 4 inc... » Read More

Gift Guide ~ Handmade Christmas Holiday Ornaments

One of the things I like about the holiday season is family traditions.  One of our holiday events we do is we get together before Christmas and make Swedish sausage to have for our Christmas dinner.  When I was a child my Grandma & Grandpa had it at their house, all the cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, siblings would get together and make this wonderful treat to have for Christmas eve dinner.  Well, now my sister and I plan it and put it together, we all have so much fun.  Well, several years ago my sister and I added a new twist to this fun event, we have a ornament exchange (the idea actually came from my sister). Everyone that atte... » Read More

Gift Guide ~ Handmade Mousepads

Handmade mousepads make a great gift for your mouse.I started making my own mousepads several years ago.  I wanted one that matched my personality and looked nice on my desk. I make my mousepads with cotton fabric, interfacing and a non slip back.  They are nice and slim and they don't move while you use it, and if you want it in a different position just lift and reposition.  These make great gifts for people that you just don't know what to get for them. Most people have a computer, so who doesn't need a new mousepad periodically.  How about gifts for the people in your office.  I even make custom mousepads, want it bigger, smaller, a speci... » Read More

Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs

As I start this post I retreive the book I want to tell you about, I think its a lovely vintage book, its a hardback book covered with a red cloth (whick is faded & a bit frayed on the edges) and its embossed in black lettering.  The spine is faded more than the rest of the book.  Despite all that I love the look of this book. Lets start on the inside, as I open it I notice it has split partially from the spine.  On the first page it has the title TARZAN the Untamed. This book has 1 picture in the beginning, Illustrated by J. Allen St. John.  Isn't that a wonderful drawing to start your journey into this story. This book has 24 chapters... » Read More
