Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Just for fun....I wanted to share something the children and I made yesterday. We made some chocolate covered pretzels. They are really simple to make, and a yummy treat. You just need some chocolate chips  and some pretzel sticks! An optional item that we chose to use was rainbow sprinkles:You also need some wax paper. I used aluminum foil since I didn't have any wax paper on hand. You put some chocolate chips in a bowl, the amount depends on how many pretzel sticks you want to cover with chocolate. I started with about a cup of chips. Ended up doing more of course. :) Microwave the chips just until the chips are starting to melt.   I microwaved... » Read More

A Snow Day

Yesterday was St. Patricks Day, but there was no green around here! The color of the day was WHITE! Forget shamrocks and daffodils, we had SNOW! The children and I had fun playing in the snow. It was the perfect, wet snow. The kind you can roll across the yard and it rolls up like a carpet. I had fun making several giant rolls and rolling them down the orchard hill. Hey, who says you have to grow up!??!We built snow men. Here is one my 16 year old daughter built...Three of the children went in early because they got too cold. But the other three and I worked on a snow wall....Of course when we were all done we had some hot chocolate. We collecte... » Read More

Soda Can Cozy Free Crochet Pattern

This is a free pattern for making a soda can cozy. I designed this pattern, and would like to share it with you......It's a very simple pattern. And the soda can cozies make a wonderful summer time gift! They are great for absorbing condensation. Keep your hands from getting wet as you drink your soda while you work. And keep your table or desk from getting that ring of water under the can. I used a size 'G-6" hook and Sugar and Cream Cotton yarn.Chain 2Row 1: 6 single crochet (SC) in 2nd chain from hook. DO NOT join. *When you start next row, mark your first stitch with a stitch marker, replacing marker as you work the first stitch of each ro... » Read More

Today I am showing off my 14 yeard old daughter's work. This girl is amazing!! She can do just about anything she wants to.   She loves drawing, especially animals. Upcycled Cereal Box Greeting Cards

What to do with all those cereal and food boxes?? Well, here is one idea I came up with. I am in the Cardmakers of Artfire Guild. Each month our guild leader gives us a challenge. This month, December 2011, the challenge is "Somthing Old, Something New". We are free to apply that theme however we want in the making of our cards.   I saw this stack of boxes in the kitched waiting to be recycled, and got "inspired"...Hey....something old!! So, I cut the cereal boxes into cards: Made some Note card size, and some mini thank you card size. I covered the outside of each card with scrapbooking papers...front and back. Here are a few of... » Read More
