Repurposed Zipper Table Runner

Had seen this suggested somewhere and decided to try my hand at it.Purchased zippers for 25 cents each at a resale shop in Eagle River, Wisconsin.I then came home and began stitching the together overlapping one side of the zipper over the top one.  Keep on hand sewing (using neutral thread, unless you want to take the time to match each zipper...I didn't!!)  It is turning out very nicely.  I'll show you the finished product, and what it looks like under our Beta fish...Meteor!... » Read More

Memory Art Baby Quilt

I'm so enjoying this recent project.  My sister-in-law passed away last August. Her first grandbaby is to be born this August.  I have some of her jammies she wore, and am cutting them into 6 1/2 inch squares to make a patchwork quilt for the new little one.  I am using the lace embellishments to accentseveral squares, as well as the collars from a couple of jammie shirts. It is really fun!  The last birthday card she gave my husband and I(we share the same birthday) has her signature on it.The blanket will be hand embroidered on a pink square,... » Read More

Zippers Galore!

Seems like, when it rains, it pours!  I have been replacing zippers very frequentlyas of late, and besides the jackets, the newest one is a favorite jeans backpack.I have such appreciation of my mom, staying up late at night sewing clothing for us, and special things like my freshman year cheerleader skirt. Holey jeans were a specialty for her to patch.  Her sewing area was called "Grammy's Patching Parlor".My aunt and grandma were the same.  They were always mending something for someone outside the home, let alone those inside their home! I love the old adage"When life give you scraps, make quilts."  ... » Read More

Creating in my environment

Checking in daily here, I'm searching for somethingI've been creating to share with you!  This time it isn't made with my hands, it's planted!  I have spinach coming up in three rectangle planting containers in my south tea nook window!  If I can get a picture to upload (my pics are too big for this site, thus I don't have much up til I figure it out how to downsize them) , you will see how my little sprouts are doing.  Creativity is catchy!  It affects every area of your life!!Happy creating! ... » Read More

Mixed Media Art Quilt

Fresh off the drawing board is my first art quilt using mixed media...Fabric, ribbon, paper, photo, plastic label, and orange mesh.I used fabric from my stash and placed the items pleasingly on thesurface.  With free-motion quilting, I randomly sewed some heart-shapesalong with outlining to hold the pieces down.It was really fun, and I'm on my way to creating another one. This time, I'm going to find the fabric you can print a photo onand include in the collage.  Happy art quilts!!... » Read More

Mitered Corners Scarf

My newest project for the past couple of months is a mitered corner scarf!  I will put pictures up when I can figure out better how to shrink the size of the pictures.  I have been knitting for over 40 years, and this is possibly the most fun pattern I have come across.  I also love color!  Using up my yarn in a mix of rainbow hues (along with jewel tones and more subdued notes)is really exciting.  ... » Read More
