Waxing Poetic


Candles lit. Lights down low. Chill outside; warm and cozy inside. Ahhh... the glory of a January day that spreads before me like a comfortable quilt. It's a great day for candle making!Today I am working in white and iced blue paraffin. I'm making "chunked" candles. I start by melting my wax, dying it, and scenting it with remarkably strong, true-life scents. After pouring the melted wax into glass baking dishes, allowing it to cool to semi-hardness, I can then cut my "chunks" into even or uneven squares. Winter Waiting


I love snow. I keep peeking out of my window, awaiting the arrival of the gorgeous white stuff. Alas, (heavy sigh), I am heartbroken. So, I think I'll make some snowy candles while I wait. It's cold outside, though. And it gets dark all too early.  Light a candle...If you look closely at a candle flame, you’ll see a blue area at the base of the flame.
