Upon a careful review of my artwork, marketing, and sales history, I have decided to stop working on small watercolor portraits and only paint large scale. The small sketches, illustrations and painting are going to be studio work in my sketchbook. I want to turn my focus onto getting more custom pet portrait work and less on individual small pieces. So many times I have heard that the small pieces don't look like their pets, the markings just are not right. I worked on the small watercolors so that people could purchase affordable art online but have found that they usually go with a custom pet portrait instead of purchasing the finished work. That way the finished painting is exactly looking like their loved pet.
I can understand that as it is exactly what I would do if in the same place.
So I have begun a discipline of sketchbook drawing.
It has begun today with my sketch of my dog Nana taking a nap. It is a pencil sketch with added colored pencils for the blankets.
