So, my husband likes to cook. He watches the food channel whenever the television is on and I do not stop him! He uses basic herbs and seasonings plus some exotic ones as well in culinary creations. During family gatherings, food is often the focal point.
I did some research and found that many of our herbs, seasonings, and foods are grown in Creole gardens. While these gardens originated in the Caribbean islands, Guadelope being one of them, they can be found in other warm, temperate climates.
The herbs and plants found in Creole gardens include basil, cinnamon, goatweed, bay leaves, lemon grass, and others. The food plants include yams, eggplants, corn, amaranth, lettuce, and banana plants. The trees grown in Creole garden may be breadfruit, avocado, guava, or mango. These gardens can have a abundance of flowers, grasses, trees, and bushes that can be as thick as the undergrowth of a rain forest.
For most of us, family gatherings feature food as the focal point. So we certainly benefit from the Creole gardens. While their visual beauty is outstanding, their produce spices up our food menus and provide us with an aromatic, sensual palate. Let us take pleasure in them.
